What is Music?

What is Music? – or should the question really be “What is Music to you?”

The following are quotes from Philosophers, Poets, Authors, and one musician (Debussy) which match some of the feelings/emotions/wishes that I have about Music. They may also help to explain why I have started this blog, and what I hope that it will help to achieve.

Is it “Odd” that I can listen to music like Pavel Dovgal, then listen to Naima or Mars (from Interstellar Space) by John Coltrane, switch to Acid Mothers Temple, Imogen Heap, Ravi Shankar, Stravinsky, Rory Gallagher, The Suns of Arqa, and then back to JS Bach?

If so, then is that why there is Music for the Masses? – hence Music – Not for the Masses?

Welcome to Music - Not for the Masses?

The concept behind this blog is to identify, locate and spread the widest possible section of music that is available, no longer available, and to expand your awareness of what is out there, was out there, and should be out there.

Do not expect Music for the Masses - Expect music that will challenge your preconceptions, was not and is not particularly popular (to the Masses), but needs to be heard. Expect recommendations from every genre (except Music for the Masses). Expect to open your mind and hear stuff you have probably never heard before.

I would greatly appreciate input from you regarding what Genres you are missing, what Genres you like, what Genres you hate, and Why!

More later (well some time after I have finished listening to something New/Old/Lost/Found etc.)
